The Challenge
After installing a new inground pool, Wendy was left with an unfinished property that needed significant cleanup and grading. The pool installation had left behind multiple trees, stumps, and piles of debris. In addition, the yard required proper drainage planning, grading, and soil preparation to ensure the space could support a healthy lawn and prevent water from collecting near the home. The goal was to transform the disturbed yard into a clean, level, functional landscape that complemented the new pool while protecting the property from drainage issues.
Our Approach
We began by clearing the property of all leftover material from the pool installation. Several trees were removed along with a large pile of stumps and yard debris, creating a clean working area for the rest of the project.
Next, we focused on drainage. The existing downspouts and channel drains surrounding the pool were extended and directed to a drainage swale located roughly 300 feet behind the property. This ensured that water from the pool deck and roofline would move safely away from the home and yard.
With drainage addressed, we moved on to reshaping the landscape. Approximately 600 tons of clean fill were brought in to raise low areas and level the yard. This step established the overall grade and framework of the property.
Once the base grading was complete, we installed an additional 200 tons of quality topsoil. This created a deep, nutrient rich layer that allows the new lawn to establish strong roots and thrive over time.
Extra attention was given to the far corner of the yard near the house. This area was carefully compacted and shaped to reestablish a proper runoff zone, ensuring water would move away from the foundation and eliminating the risk of pooling near the home.
The Result
The property was fully transformed into a clean, properly graded landscape that complements Wendy’s new pool. Drainage is now effectively managed through the extended downspout and channel drain system, while the yard has been leveled and reinforced with high quality fill and topsoil.
The finished space not only enhances the appearance of the property but also provides long term protection against water issues and creates the ideal foundation for a healthy, durable lawn.
